We love having new people to write with! If you would like to join us, please read our site rules carefully. Shaman is a very old site, and over the years our members have added their own creative details to our intricate world. We know it's a lot to get your head around all at once, so you don't need to read all the information pages. Our one-stop guide below is enough to get you going. Please also check the name you have chosen is not already taken (by a fairy or familiar!) before joining a new character.
If you are interested in adopting an existing character, check out the adoption board below. We have many interesting characters available for adoption, including ones with curious backstories, unsual abilities and even some demigods. You can also find free HTML layouts on the adoption board for your new character, whether you joined or adopted them.

Sample posts
Shaman welcomes players of all ability and there is no requirement to show us your standard of writing before joining. However, we do encourage players to try writing a sample post for a character when joining them, to help you get a better feel for your new character. If you choose to include a sample post, you will receive between +5 and +25 points for the character depending on the quality of the sample.
Naming characters
Please note that there is no surname culture on Shaman. You are perfectly welcome to join with a surname, but you will need to use it in the name box whenever you post as your character. :)
Fairies and familiars also cannot share names on this site. When checking to see if a name is available, please make sure you check:
